Last week, our AmeriCorps members took part in promoting a mobile health clinic for the South West Denver neighborhood. This area houses some Denver Public Schools magnet schools for the refugee population and communication seems to be a major obstacle to provide information to this region. The Ronald McDonald Mobile Care Clinic has found a great way to help provide their services by traveling to Grace Apartments, a complex dedicated to housing some of the refugee population in Denver and where many of those families from overseas come to live.
Our AmeriCorps members participated in a door knocking campaign to invite families to come to the free mobile clinic and engaged in multiple activities with the kids and their families, including painting faces, playing games and signing up and training parents on Infinite Campus, the district’s tool for parents to see their child’s grades, attendance and other school-related information.
Our members had a great time supporting this event, there are a few pictures posted of our members participating in the event, please view our Flickr photos to see these!
