Summit Academy College & Career Fair

On April 12th, 2013, Summit Academy held its annual College and Career Fair on the Loretta Heights Campus.  The turn-out was great, with over 65 Summit scholars in attendance, a number of Summit Staff, and 18 college/career/resource representatives.  It could not have been a success without the help of Summit Staff, Timothy Huggins, Yasmin Servoss, Summit Scholars, and a team of AmeriCorps members!

As students bustled their way into the historical Machebeuf dining hall where the event was taking place, they were handed questionnaires from AmeriCorps members Karla Arevalo and Alvie Cueto. Students were informed that if they completed the questionnaire, they would have the opportunity to win an iPod shuffle.

Summit staff were also able to get in on the fun as well.  Other prize giveaways included King Soopers gift cards, a Chic-Fil-A gift box, a Starbucks coffee reward, Denver Public Schools gear, and Summit Academy t-shirts. Silva Orthodontics also generously donated prizes for the event.

Those in attendance were very impressed by our students and we were able to schedule future dates for guest speakers from Denver Entertainment of Art and Design Academy and The Art Institutes to offer career exploration presentations.
